The Ballad of Jim and John
This song pretty much set up a story-song cycle over the next few years.
Me solo, putting it down for posterity, one take.

The Ballad of Jim & Jon 3:12

Jim and Johnny are walkin' down the boulevard
Making faces in the windows
No two people could be cooler than they are
In the world in that moment
Then some guy tells them to shove it
And they laugh
In fact they've never laughed so hard
They laughed so hard
Jim and Johnny are just about to bust a gut
The guy says "What's so effing funny?"
There's no way to explain it to him
In the works in that moment
"Hey, whatever, what's your problem?"
And they stare him down
And put their fists on guard
They're all on guard
John thinks "If I run now, I'll be safe... I'll be safe."
Jim thinks "I can take him. He ain't so big. He ain't so tough."
An hour later Jim and Jon are at the lot
Playing B-ball with the neighbors
Jim says "Jon, I can't play, I hurt my hand
But man, he had it coming, don't you think?
He had it coming." and Jon says
"Jim, my heart, it never beat so hard.
It beat so hard."
