Mixed in Mono

I came up with the chorus one day while I was driving the bus, then I texted Sarah to ask if she wanted to co-write. She kicked out the two verses and bridge in a Google doc. We worked up the chord changes and added a sort of pre-chorus at the end of each verse during a video chat.

Electric rhythm guitar, electric violin for all the solos, bass for thump and drive, vocals for pep and vim, drum track to hold it together.

Lyrically it's kind of a history of Sugar Still on the road. Looking forward to touring again soon.

V: Ab|Ab|Eb|Eb|Bb|Bb F|F|Ab|Ab|Bb|Eb|Ab|Db|F#|B|Bb7
Hit the bank, get a tan with the gators
Look our best for our babies later
Drink in the sun, the cicada hum
The upstate hills and the whippoorwills
The Hollywood sign at the end of the line
I always got a line or two, yeah, always got a line for you
I've always got time, always got time for you

Ch: F Eb Bb Ab
Feet get cold and love gets brittle
Heads get hot and hearts melt a little
I play guitar, you play the fiddle
Mixed in mono right down the middle

V: Ab|Ab|Eb|Eb|Bb|Bb F|F|Ab|Ab|Bb|Eb|Ab|Db|F#|B|Bb7
Thick as thieves and dry as the leaves
Falling ashes from motel matches
Rye in the moonlight, alone in the room I
Sit and await another California day
Over graffitied signs at the edge of my mind
I’ve always half a mind on you, yeah, always half a mind on you
I’ve always got time, always got time for you

Bridge: B E A Ab
Real winter can’t calm my lust
Real love can’t rebuild my trust
One foot out the broken van
I’ll let you know when I can

Feet get cold and love gets brittle
Heads get hot and hearts melt a little
I play guitar, I play the fiddle
Mixed in mono right down the middle
